WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

This is a much smaller experience than the older blogs describe. After a fatal incident in May 2026, the camp reopened under a new SOP: roughly 10 m distance from the elephants, no touching, feeding or bathing, and timed 45-minute guided groups of about 25. Arrive at 9:30 sharp, and if elephant bathing is the whole reason you are going, do not make the trip. The boat crossing and river flow depend on the season.

HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Dubare was the training camp for the Mysuru Dasara elephants. Older sources credit Jungle Lodges & Resorts, while the 2026 reports describe a Forest Department camp reopening under a state SOP. About 30 elephants live here, of which about 10 are reported to be open to viewing.
