Go for the last hour before sunset, not midday, because the whole point is the western view over the valley and clouds can wipe it out. The toy train and musical fountain are kid entertainment, not the draw. If it is fogged in, skip it and return the next evening.
A brick-and-mortar pavilion of four pillars joined by arches, set in a garden above the valley. The Kodava (Haleri) kings, who ruled Kodagu from about 1600 to 1834, used it for evening recreation. It lies about 1 km west of Madikeri bus stand.
