WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

This is a monsoon activity. The Cauvery at Dubare ran dry in March 2025, and rafting restarts when water rises (the 2025 season was reported running by mid-June). Use only operators with certified guides and life jackets, ask that the raft is not overloaded, and expect it to be cancelled in a flood warning.

HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Rafting is run on the Cauvery at Dubare and on the Barapole river, which the Kodagu district portal places 27 km from Gonikoppal and 78 km from Madikeri. Rafts are manually rowed rubber boats, and motorised rafts are prohibited. Operators in 2025 were reported to need fitness certification and police verification.
