The Bhagandeshwara temple's Kerala-style copper roofs are the sight, and the confluence is calmer in the dry months. The river can rise fast in the monsoon, so keep off the steps when it is high.
The Kaveri here meets the Kannike and the mythical Sujyothi, and Bhagamandala takes its name from the Bhagandeshwara temple. Wikipedia reports Tipu Sultan occupying it from 1785 and renaming it Afzalabad, until Dodda Vira Rajendra took it back in 1790.
