The classic postcard view of City Palace and Lake Palace Hotel across the water - arrive by 5:30pm in winter to get a spot on the steps before the crowd from nearby cafes fills in.
Also known as Manjhi Ghat, this waterfront steps complex on Lake Pichola's northeastern shore faces the City Palace and Jag Mandir directly across the water, which is why it became one of Udaipur's principal sunset-viewing spots. Ghats of this kind served historically as everyday points of ritual bathing, laundering, and community gathering for residents of the old city rather than as a single royal commission. The Udaipur municipal authority (Nagar Parishad) has since paved and maintained it with marble seating for visitors.
