HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Built between 1751 and 1778 by Amar Chand Badwa, prime minister of Mewar under four successive Maharanas, on the Lake Pichola waterfront at Gangori Ghat. A later owner, Maharaja Shakti Singh of Bagore, added the haveli's triple-arched gateway after inheriting it in 1878. The 138-room mansion, known for its mirrorwork and Mewari murals (notably the glass-and-mirror peacocks in the Queen's Chamber), was restored by the West Zone Cultural Centre and converted into a museum and evening cultural-performance venue.
