Buy the dance show ticket by 6:30pm - it sells out most evenings in peak season (Nov-Feb) and there's no reserved seating, so early arrival also gets you a better view of the Kathputli puppet segment.
Built between 1751 and 1778 by Amar Chand Badwa, prime minister of Mewar under four successive Maharanas, on the Lake Pichola waterfront at Gangori Ghat. A later owner, Maharaja Shakti Singh of Bagore, added the haveli's triple-arched gateway after inheriting it in 1878. The 138-room mansion, known for its mirrorwork and Mewari murals (notably the glass-and-mirror peacocks in the Queen's Chamber), was restored by the West Zone Cultural Centre and converted into a museum and evening cultural-performance venue.
