WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Overpriced relative to the wax quality compared to international wax museums; the Sheesh Mahal mirror-work room it's bundled with is the only part worth the ticket, and you can see better mirror work for free at City Palace and Amber.

HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Opened in December 2016 inside the historic Nahargarh Fort, it was inaugurated by Bollywood actor Govinda and is billed as the world's first wax museum housed within a heritage fort structure. It occupies restored sections of the fort including the Madhavendra Bhawan, and its galleries are built around the fort's own Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), originally constructed under Sawai Man Singh in the 16th century and decorated with millions of pieces of colored mirrored glass. The museum displays figures of Bollywood stars, sports figures, political leaders, and members of the Jaipur royal family, layering a modern attraction onto the 18th-century fort setting.
