Housed in a restored haveli in Amber town, this is the real deep-dive into block-printing craft and history — pair it with a stop in Sanganer or Bagru if you want to see the technique practiced live rather than just displayed.
Opened in 2005 as an initiative of Rachel Bracken-Singh and Pritam Singh, founders of the block-print clothing brand Anokhi, the museum occupies the Chanwar Palkiwalon ki Haveli, a dilapidated 16th-to-18th-century mansion near Amber that Pritam Singh's father John Singh purchased and began restoring in the late 1970s. The multi-year restoration, led by architects Nimish Patel and Parul Zaveri, won a UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2000 for its sensitive, sustainable approach. The museum is dedicated to preserving and demonstrating Rajasthan's centuries-old hand block-printing and natural-dye textile traditions, including live demonstrations by working printers.
