RISHIKESH
The genuine beginner run — roughly 9km of Grade I–II water from Brahmpuri down to Nim Beach near Tapovan, with a handful of small rapids and long flat stretches between them. This is the one that actually suits younger kids and nervous first-timers; if you have rafted before it will feel like a float, so book Shivpuri instead. 'Club House' is a rapid and put-in name on this lower section, not a separate route, so an operator selling it as its own package is selling you the same water. Book only operators licensed by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, and treat route names, distances, minimum ages and approved put-in points as provisional — all of them change with water level and government instructions, sometimes on the day.
Brahmpuri is a small riverside settlement on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway roughly 9km upstream of Rishikesh, and the lowest of the four standard commercial put-in points on this stretch of the Ganga. Because every longer route finishes at the same take-out beaches near Rishikesh, the Brahmpuri run is effectively the bottom section of the Shivpuri, Marine Drive and Kaudiyala trips, which is why its rapids reappear in descriptions of the longer runs. It was split out as a package of its own as Rishikesh's rafting industry expanded through the 1990s and 2000s under private operators and the state-run Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN, formed in 1976), giving families, school groups and day-trippers from Haridwar a short introductory option below the Grade III water upstream.
