WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

A small deodar-forest park with a paddle-boating pond near Mall Road. Pleasant enough for a stroll but not worth prioritizing over the free walking routes in Old Manali or Vashisht if your time is limited.

HISTORY & BACKGROUND

Despite its 'National Park' name, this is a small municipal deodar-forest garden on Mall Road in front of Manali's Tibetan Market, built around a modest artificial lake, distinct from the much larger Van Vihar National Park and zoo in Bhopal that shares the name. It developed alongside Manali's growth as a tourist hill station in the latter half of the 20th century, intended as a shaded recreational green space amid the cedar canopy for both residents and visitors. Paddle-boating on its small lake has been a signature attraction since the park's establishment.
