Combo packages (~₹1,800) bundling ziplining, tubing, and gear rental are sold aggressively at the parking lot - check what's actually included before paying, some packages quietly drop the ropeway ride. Ski sessions with an instructor are worth the higher end of the price range; solo unsupervised runs on icy slopes are not.
Skiing came first among Solang's adventure activities, introduced through Himachal Pradesh government-backed winter-sports programs and the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, which has run its annual skiing festival in the valley since the 1980s-90s era of institutional promotion. Zorbing and quad (ATV) biking were added much later as warm-weather alternatives once Solang's tourist economy expanded beyond the snow season, using the same open meadow terrain. Together the three activities mark Solang's transition from a seasonal grazing ground into a year-round commercial adventure-sports park serving the wider Manali tourism boom.
