23km from Shimla, a 9-hole course laid out by Lord Curzon in genuinely beautiful deodar-forest surroundings. Worth it if you golf or want a quieter day trip than Kufri; otherwise it's just a scenic drive.
Naldehra Golf Course was established in 1905 at the direction of Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905, who was so taken with the natural undulating terrain -- reminiscent of English golf links -- that he had it laid out into a course. Curzon was reportedly so charmed by the location that he gave his daughter the middle name 'Naldehra.' The course, one of the oldest in India, is considered a lasting relic of Curzon's personal patronage of the hill station during the late Raj period.
