Small but decent Pahari miniature painting and coin collection near Chaura Maidan. Fine as a rainy-afternoon filler, not worth rearranging your day for.
The museum is housed in Inverarm, a Victorian-era mansion built in the 1860s on Observatory Hill that was successively home to Lord William Beresford (Military Secretary to the Viceroy) and later colonial officials including Sir Edward Law. The building was converted into a public museum on 26 January 1974 to preserve Himachal's historical and archaeological artifacts. Its galleries showcase pre-historic finds, wood carvings, wall paintings, archaeological pieces, and coins within the original colonial mansion structure.
