About 2.5 km from Pykara Lake on the same road. Water volume drops sharply outside monsoon/post-monsoon (Sept-Dec) — check season expectations before making the detour in peak summer.
Formed where the sacred Pykara River drops over a series of cascades—the two principal falls measuring about 55 and 61 metres—Pykara Falls sits within the same hydroelectric catchment developed by the British in the 1920s-30s for the Pykara power project. The falls and surrounding reserve forest have long been part of the Nilgiri tourism circuit developed alongside the region's tea estates and colonial-era roads connecting Ooty to Mysore.
