One of India's largest rose gardens (~20,000 varieties on a terraced slope) but best only Feb-May flowering season — off-season visits show mostly bare bushes and it's not worth the detour then.
Established on 20 May 1995 at Vijayanagaram to commemorate the Centenary Flower Show of the Government Botanical Garden, the Rose Garden began with roughly 1,919 varieties and 17,256 plants across five curving terraces on a hillside. It has since expanded to over 20,000 plants of about 2,800 cultivars, making it the largest rose collection in India. In 2006 the World Federation of Rose Societies designated it a 'Garden of Excellence,' one of only a small number of gardens worldwide to hold that recognition at the time.
