Small but fun if traveling with kids — vintage Maharaja's saloon carriage and a mini toy train ride (~₹20 extra) are the highlights, skip if pressed for time
Established by Indian Railways in 1979, it was the second railway museum in the country after the National Rail Museum in Delhi, situated on Krishnaraja Sagar Road near Mysore Junction. Its centerpiece exhibits are two royal saloon coaches once used by the Maharajas of Mysore, including the Maharani's saloon carriage dating to 1899, complete with its own kitchen and dining compartment. The grounds also display vintage steam locomotives and a battery-operated miniature train.
